Goat’s Milk For Toddlers – Try Growth Spurt Formula

Some of my friends are either having children late in life or are spending time with their grandchildren.  Either way, they are trying to feed their children or grandchildren the best foods and drinks, like Growth Spurt premium goat milk toddler formula.

Although my children are older, I recall trying to find the best formula for my oldest child after stopping breastfeeding her, after the first month.   My second child (who was born 11 years later) was breastfed for almost a year.  Both of my children did not drink from a bottle or breast after they turned one year old.  They did not have formula as toddlers.  I tried to figure out what to give them after they turned one. I did not consider a toddler formula because, at the nursery schools they attended, the toddlers did not have bottles.  I always associated formulas with a bottle. I guess the formula could have been prepared in a sippy cup.

Although my children did not drink formulas as toddlers, I recall trying to find the best formula for my daughter,  when she was a baby. It was hard.  I knew she was born with asthma, allergies, and eczema.  Besides those issues, the formulas I tried seemed to give her digestive issues.  I never thought about giving her goat’s milk nor do I recall if that was an option for me back then.  The doctors never suggested it, and I do not remember seeing goat’s milk as a sample in the office.  Mind you, I had the best pediatricians a PPO could offer.  As the old saying goes…If I knew then, what I know now.

If had known about Growth Spurt, I would have definitely tried it.  I know firsthand, that is harsh on a baby’s stomach to go from drinking something suitable for their littles tummies to cow’s milk.

On my search to find what was best for my children, my daughter started drinking cow’s milk when she was about one year old. After dealing with allergies and asthma she drinks oat, almond, and soy milk.  I did the same with my son.  He will drink 1% skim milk on occasion.   They primarily drink the types of milk they were offered as a baby, except for breastmilk. Maybe I should have considered a toddler formula when I was weaning them from the bottle.

Goat Milk Benefits For Toddlers

Increasingly, parents and doctors are finding that when it comes to feeding a little one, goat milk formula has numerous advantages when compared to cow’s milk formula. Its protein size makes it less allergenic, and it is naturally homogenized for better digestibility. Unlike cow’s milk, goat’s milk rarely causes intolerance. One of the greatest benefits of goat milk formula lies in its similarity to breast milk in its digestibility and nutritional profile (Park, 1994). To benefit your little one even further, they have added key ingredients that are nutritional hallmarks of breast milk to our formula.  It is funny to see this finding was the same year my daughter was born.

The first high-quality ingredient you might not recognize in their formula is Lactoferrin. Lactoferrin is a naturally occurring glycoprotein that helps bind iron for better absorption and to protect your baby’s gut against harmful microorganisms. It also balances and communicates with key immune cells to contribute to a strong immune system (Jirillo & Magrone, 2014).

Another addition to their goat milk formula is human milk oligosaccharides or 2’-FL HMO – special prebiotics that occur naturally in human milk and further help strengthen the infant’s developing immune system. In addition to healthy prebiotics which is essential for fostering the growth of beneficial bacteria that will support a baby’s gastrointestinal health, their formula also contains probiotics, the good bacteria that provide the foundation for your baby’s microbiome or gut bacterial population. A balanced array of beneficial bacteria in the gut have been shown to support healthy digestion, immunity, a healthy brain, and much more.

Their formula also contains both Omega 3 docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) & arachidonic acid (ARA), two long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids necessary for normal development and brain function. These fatty acids also help combat inflammation and support healthy sensory processing, including healthy hearing and visual processing (Smithers, Gibson, McPhee, & Makrides, 2008). Arachidonic acid has also been shown to reduce the risk of skin and respiratory allergies in babies of mothers who have allergies (Kelley, Taylor, Nelson, & Mackey, 1998).

Finally, essential vitamins and minerals are also added to their formulation to meet all of your baby’s needs for growth and development, including fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K as well as B vitamins and vitamin C. Calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and copper, manganese and iodine offer the right mineral balance for your little one.

This is a formula I wish I had tried for my daughter since she drank formula as a baby.  I think of all of the challenges my daughter has faced when it comes to choosing the right foods for her as a child an adult. She educates herself on the best food options for her body. I know she is going to do the same for her children when she has some.    She is now a young adult hoping to start a family in the next few years.  As an involved parent, I know I will be a very involved grandmother that will suggest Growth Spurt formula.
