I Took The Wrong Child To See Toy Story Part 4
I initially invited my son and my daughter to see Toy Story Part 4 at Disney Studios. My son will be 14-years-old in a couple of weeks, and lately, he has been telling me he is too old or too big to do certain things. My 24-year old daughter, on the other hand, did not back out.
I knew Toy Story was sentimental for one of them, but I could not remember who. As soon as the movie began, I began to ask myself, ‘What year did Toy Story Come out?” I quickly realized it came out around the time my daughter was one. It came out on November 22, 1995. Of course, I had to Google.
As we watched the movie, the theater was filled with laughter. There were times I felt like my daughter was laughing the loudest. Maybe because she would love in my direction. I jokingly turned my back to her because she was laughing uncontrollably. When the movie was over and the credits were rolling, I stood up to leave and she was still seated. I said to her, “This is not a Marvel movie, what are you waiting for?” She said, “I am waiting for the clips.” Shortly after, I noticed as she was sheepishly leaving her. She later explained, she was too embarrassed for the people seated behind her to see her face. All I could do was laugh. She was not over the top with her laughter. Lots of people were laughing. I am sure the people behind her did not notice because they were laughing also.
I have to admit, she was like the Adam Sandler meme. This movie was definitely a millennial movie. I am joking when I say I took the wrong kid. My 13-year-old would have enjoyed the movie, but not as much as my 24-year-old.
Toy Story 4 Spoilers
The only thing my daughter did not like, was the ending. Without giving anything away she was very displeased with Woody’s decision. What should have been a heartfelt ending upset us. My daughter had said from the beginning she did not like this new Bo. I agree with her!
I wanted to record her frustration but she refused to. I did not record the video, but I did get a picture of me coming out of the movie.
Not only were we disappointed with the ending, but I was looking for a Pixar short. What happened? This is all leading me to wonder if this is the last Toy Story Movie.
Despite the fact we were displeased with Toy Story 4 ending we loved the movie! I know…I know…trust me, it is possible.
When I returned home I told my son that he missed a good movie and it was not for smaller children. Of course, he now wants to see it. He will have to wait until it comes to theaters on Friday.
Toy Story 4 Trailer
Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.
