Free And For Me

By now everyone should know that Captain Marvel is in theaters everywhere!

The release of the film could not have come at a better time!  It deals greatly with feminism and equality.  My daughter left the theater feeling like we could conquer anything.  Since seeing the movie we have referenced the movie in some of our real-life situations.

11 Facts About Captain Marvel:

• Producer Kevin Feige says, “We thought it was the right time to finally introduce Captain Marvel to the world. She’s one of the most popular characters and one of the most powerful characters in the comics and will now be the most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
• Filmmakers decided to set Carol Danvers’ story in the 1990s—a first for the MCU. In this pre-Avengers time
  period, cell phones were just phones, pagers were in, internet cafes were the rage and video rental stores dotted
  the landscape.
• When filmmakers found out that Brie Larson might be interested in joining the MCU, they had numerous meetings and pitched her the idea for the film,” recalls producer Kevin Feige. “She was a huge fan of the character in the comic, and one of the highlights of my career at Marvel was introducing her at Comic-Con and having her come out on stage and stand with literally almost every other actor from the MCU. She was at the forefront, which was a great foreshadowing for how audiences were going to embrace Brie as this character.”
• Producer, Kevin Feige says, “Parts of this movie takes place on other planets. Parts take place on spaceships.
•   A large part of the film takes place on Earth, and for the Earth scenes, they wanted it to feel very practical and very much on location, which is one of the reasons they wanted to shoot in Southern California. Feige adds, “We were able to secure amazing locations, like Eastwood Power Station and Shaver Lake in Fresno
  as well as the deserts in the Lucerne Valley and Edwards Air Force Base.
• “The biggest responsibility was working and coming up with the worlds for the Kree and Skrulls and giving them both an identity,” relates production designer Andy Nicholson.
• “Part of Brie’s research for this film was not just reading the many amazing comics and source material that we
  pull from, but also going to Nellis and Edwards Air Force Bases and spending a lot of time with several officers
  and pilots and airmen up there, including General Leavitt, who was the first female Air Force fighter pilot,”
  explains Producer Kevin Feige.
• The Captain Marvel costume design team had to create several different versions of the suit. One of them was the hero or beauty suit that was used for the close-ups and heroic moments. Another had a shorter top part, which made it easy for Brie Larson to sit down in it. Then for the action sequences when she was flying, the suit had soft shoulders and soft materials on all the normally hard parts of the costumes
  like the chest, the gauntlets, and the belt. Otherwise, when she flew, it would
  be impossible to lift her arms and hang from the wires. In total, the costume department made eight Captain Marvel suits for Larson.
• Goose, a tabby cat, who was played by several different cats. This is the first time that a cat has been front and center in the MCU. “Goose was primarily played by real-life cats,” explains Jonathan Schwartz. “We auditioned several different cats, and we ended up with a cat named Reggie. Reggie came with a team of three other cats: Archie, Gonzo, and Rizzo. They all specialize in certain tricks and performance.”
• “Captain Marvel” is chock-full of action and adventure, so Brie Larson transformed herself to get ready to play
  a Marvel Super Hero. She committed to months of stunt and fight training to be able to perform as much of the action and fight sequences as she could in the film.
• Larson trained for nine months to build up her physical strength before filming even began and worked her way to lifting over 225 pounds in deadlifts, 400-pound hip thrusts and even pulling a jeep down the road.

Based on the beloved Marvel comic-book series, first published in 1967, “Captain Marvel” stars Academy Award winner Brie Larson (“Room,” “Kong: Skull Island”) as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson (Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “The Hateful Eight”) as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Mississippi Grind”) as Talos, with Annette Bening (“American Beauty,” “20th Century Women”) as Supreme Intelligence, with Clark Gregg (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”) as Agent Coulson and Jude Law (“Sherlock Holmes,” “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”) as Yon-Rogg.

The film also includes a talented supporting cast that features Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond,” “Guardians
of the Galaxy”) as Korath, Lee Pace (“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “Guardians of the Galaxy”) as Ronan,
Lashana Lynch (“Bulletproof,” “Brotherhood”) as Maria Rambeau, Gemma Chan (“Crazy Rich Asians,” “Humans”)
as Minn-Erva, Rune Temte (“Eddie the Eagle,” “The Last Kingdom”) as Bron-Char, Algenis Perez Soto (“Sugar,”
“Isolated Victim”) as Att-Lass, Mckenna Grace (“Gifted,” “I, Tonya”) as Young Carol Danvers and Akira Akbar
(“Grey’s Anatomy”) as Monica Rambeau.

I liked this movie so much, I would see it again.
