Plant Based Restaurants Near Me

I participated in a 21-day vegan challenge three months ago and decided I would eat mostly vegan foods, with the exception of an occasional cheat day.   I have only cheated twice in three months and am not sure if it was worth it.

While on this vegan journey I have been dining at some great vegan restaurants.   One of my favorite vegan restaurants is Veggie Grill in The Village at Topanga.  In my mind, this the ultimate plant based food restaurant.  It is always safe to go for what you know!

Now that I am eating more vegan foods I need to dine at vegan restaurants that offer a variety of vegan options.  I have found it to be a struggle dining out and the menu is limited.  Veggie Grill was one of the first restaurants that I knew would be able to satisfy my taste buds and have a plethora of vegan options.

I invited my son and daughter to join me for lunch, after church.   I had to invite them because my daughter has been raving over the Crispy Cauliflower and my son has been trying to find a delicious vegan burger.

The Crispy Cauliflower was everything my daughter said it would be!  I absolutely loved the fresh cauliflower florets that were prepared with panko breading.  We dipped our cauliflower in both the buffalo and sweet and spicy dipping sauce.  The two sauces combined was so delicious.   This appetizer serves two, but the three of us shared it.  My son did not eat very much, but there was plenty for us all to share.   I liked this dish so much I plan on ordering it again, soon.

My son was not the only one craving a burger.  It had been a while since I had a one and I was determined to have one during this dining experience.   When I saw the new Steakhouse Burger on the menu I was excited.  The combination of beyond burger, provolone ‘cheese’, steakhouse sauce, vegan bacon, tomato, iceberg lettuce, ranch dressing, cracked pepper, brioche bun, and crispy fries definitely satisfied my craving.   This burger usually comes with blue cheese dressing, but I substituted blue cheese with ranch. This was my first time eating a beyond meat vegan burger.

My son had intentions of ordering a burger, but when he saw the Southern Spicy Fried Chicken on the Veggie Grill menu he decided to order that instead.   This Veggie Grill chickin plate consists of two pieces of spicy fried chickin’, collard greens, pinto bean stew, cauli-mashed potatoes, and porcini gravy, bbq sauce.  This reminded me of vegan southern food.

My daughter ordered the Penne Bolognese.  This dish includes penne pasta, bolognese sauce, shredded parmesan cheese, basil.

We planned on ordering dessert, but by the time we were done with our food we were too full to eat dessert.  I really wanted to try the carrot cake.   I thought about suggesting we sit and wait until we had space to eat more.   I am sure they would not have been opposed to the suggestion because we were sitting on the outside patio area.  Dining at The Village at Topanga is always enjoyable.  I could sit and eat and wonder, ‘Where did the time go.’

I absolutely enjoyed my food, the atmosphere and the company.
