Free And For Me

A weekend of relaxation for me… and in Ojai????  This was like a dream come true.  I actually spent a wonderful weekend at The Oaks at Ojai.

Yes, a dream come true.  I was a huge fan of the hit series Brothers and Sisters and since then I have always wanted to visit Ojai and have my Calista Flockhart moment by staying in a cute little cottage.

As I approached the door to my cottage I did not know what to expect.

You will not believe it but, I was having my moment.  Yes, this is how I was hoping my room would be.  My cottage was very spacious.  As I entered the large entry way and headed left there were two double beds.

As made my way past my bedroom I did not know which way to turn so I decided to turn right and  there was a large, Spanish style bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, double sink and shower.

I did turn to my left and there was a vanity area and a large walk in closet.   The cottage had two closet areas.  This was great.  Now I was beginning to feel like the kid from the movie Home Alone.  I was going to have a blast.

It did not end there, when I opened the blinds there was a cute patio area outside of my bedroom.

As I got settled in I instantly transformed into relaxation mode.  That was very unexpected.  The Oaks had taken hold of me and I was not worried about what my family was doing.  They were going to be fine without me.

Not only was I there to relax, but I was looking forward to the healthy meals.  I need to lose a pound or two maybe three or four….. I was looking forward to this, because I was able eat light without worrying about one of my children suggesting we eat something unhealthy.

I am an avid hiker and decided to go on the 6:30 a.m. hike.  I did not do so well on this hike.  My hikes begin at 8:00 am.  My body was in shock! All though I did not fair so well,  the best part of the hike was watching the sunrise.

Later that day I sat by the pool with a great book.   I made it to the pool twice that day, once to read and then to hang out with an awesome group of ladies I met and had been spending my weekend with.

A spa weekend would not be complete without a body scrub and massage.  I got the Sleek and Slim Body Treatment.   Oh my goodness, Toni did an amazing job.  She scrubbed me, massaged, wrapped me and we conversed a bit.  Toni has worked at the Oaks for some years.  I may be wrong, but I think she said 20 years.  I absolutely loved her personality.  I could tell she loved  her job.  I was more than relaxed when she was done.  I had an 8:00 p.m. treatment so I slept like a baby.

Since I have children I do not recall taking a vacation without them or anyone for that matter.  I went to the Oaks at Ojai not knowing what to expect.  Going there by myself was the best thing ever!!!  I met a group of ladies that I am now keeping in touch with, a did lose a pound a two, I did not think about anything other than relaxing and having a good time.   I appreciate moments like this and will make a habit to try to take time for myself more often.

Lastly, the Oaks at Ojai gave me my Brothers and Sisters moment.  I had an awesome time.
