California Strawberry Festival Review
Attending The California Strawberry Festival has been a family tradition for about 15 years and we enjoy the food, fun, vendors and music.
This year the festival was on May 17th and 18th. We always go on a Saturday, so of course we went on the 17th. From the moment we entered we were ready to partake in the festivities.
When we arrived we wanted to grab a bite to eat. As we stood in the middle of the food court, a man wearing a strawberry apron approached us drinking a strawberry smoothie. Clearly, he worked at the smoothie booth. He says, “Wow this is sooooo good, you are missing out!” I looked at him and said, “It is not like you are giving me yours.” He replied, ” Go to the counter and tell them Mike said, ” You can have two for the price of one.” You know where we headed. The smoothie was very filling, quenched our thirst and best of all it was made with fresh strawberries.
While sipping on our smoothies, we decided to try something different this year. My daughter and I love Bon Jovi, so we headed over to the festival stage to listen to the cover band Wanted. My son sat for a while, he was ready to do other things. Like eat a hot dog. Wanted had people of ages on their feet, dancing and singing. I could have sat there all day, but the little man was ready to go.
He did get his hot dog and was in a hurry to make it in time for the pie eating contest, but by the time we made it over there, the children had all ready participated. Well, there is always next year.
We could not leave without visiting the vendor booths. There were a variety of vendors, I really liked the flat bottles, the signs with all of the witty sayings and a few more booths but I cannot remember.
There were many other things to do like the fun kids rides, but with trying to do things differently we did not make it over there. We had a nice time and were glad we switched things up a bit.
You cannot visit the Oxnard Strawberry Festival with out purchasing fresh strawberries.
