The All-New Gospel Brunch at House of Blues -Produced By Kirk Franklin
House of Blues Anaheim Gospel Brunch-We got our praise on, at the all new Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues. To celebrate the 20th year anniversary of the Sunday afternoon spectacular brunch, House of Blues has joined forces with Grammy Award-winner Kirk Franklin to bring an all-new, contemporary Gospel Brunch experience. Nothing is better than been spiritually feed while dining on a variety of food. We visited the Downtown Disney venue, in Anaheim, California. House of Blues venues across the country, offer this high energy Gospel Brunch as well.
A half hour before the choir came on stage guest ate from the ever-evolving buffet menu full of Southern specialties: cornbread muffins and maple butter, Creole chicken and shrimp jambalaya, chicken and waffles, carving stations, plus create-your-own Bloody Mary and mimosa bars. When the choir hit the stage all thoughts of eating went out of the window for me and my family, well maybe except for my son, who eats all of the time. We were busy singing, clapping and dancing.
I have heard that Kirk Franklin sometimes makes an appearance. We loved the choir that performed, but it would have been an amazing experience to see Kirk live. Kirk is one of our favorite gospel artist. With that said, we knew every Kirk Franklin, song the choir sang. They did end the show with the Staple Singers, I’ll Take You There. We had to record that for my father. As soon as my daughter heard it, she yelled out, “Record that for Grandpa!” My dad loves that song. My parents would have enjoyed this brunch. We will have to invite them the next time we go.
Ironically, the Sunday we went for brunch was my daughter’s birthday weekend. Like most restaurants, the House of Blues acknowledges birthday’s, but in a big way. As the choir sang they asked if there were any people celebrating their birthday. My daughter as well as a group of other people raised their hand. I am sure many of them thought, there would be a birthday song sang to them, but they all seemed to surprised when they were all called to the stage. When they all went on stage there was a birthday song, but as the choir sang and the audience clapped and waved their napkins in the air. Each birthday person had to come center stage and do a birthday dance. My daughter said, all she could do was think about what was she going to do when it was her turn. She thinks she may have shimmied a little. I do not know, I was smiling to hard and trying to get a picture, I do not think I saw a shimmy. It was so cute seeing all of the people having a good time on stage.

As you can see may family are not ashamed to praise the Lord. My little guy, had a blast also. He joined in the praise and worship all the while eating. He was so happy to see his sister on stage. He talked about it for days.
