Free And For Me

My son was literally a kid in a candy store, when we attended the See’s Candies, Canyon Country event. He could not have been happier.  He thought we were going to sample some of the chocolates, but when he was told he could pack his own chocolates, he and the other children were ecstatic!

He  received instructions on how to separate the cups to place the candy in.  He did not have a problem with the process.  He instantly separated the thin papers and was ready to start selecting his chocolates.

The See’s staff were very patient with all of us, especially with the children.  I should mention they were more than gracious to fill our bellies with samples of the fine chocolate.  You know the people at See’s love to give out samples.  I cannot tell you how many times I walk into the mall, get a sample and leave with a purchase of the chocolate I sampled and then some more.  It is so irresistible!!!

My son loves the Strawberry Cream chocolate, but he has a fixation with the See’s lollipops.  He did not get a chance to sample the lollipops, but when he looked in our gift bag, there was a box of lollipops, he almost lost his mind.   He absolutely loves, vanilla and butterscotch.

We had an awesome time sampling chocolates, learning about See’s Candies and packing our own boxes.  One of the highlights for me was when we were told the famous Lucy episode when she and Ethel are packing chocolates and the conveyor belt is going to fast and they are eating the chocolate, stuffing it down their shirts and whatever else they were doing, was filmed at the See’s on La Cienega.  I think I knew that, but I felt good hearing the story again. My family loves Lucy and See’s.  As for my my son,  he could not believe Mary See’s was a real person.  After we were told her old home is in Pasadena, he began to ask if we could go see it.

Not only are See’s Candies delicious, but knowing more of the history, it gave me more of understanding about why I feel a since of warmth when I think of See’s Candies or walk into a See’s store.

Thanks to See’s Candies our home is filled with much sweetness to share with our loved ones.   See’s Candies is more than chocolates, it is about sharing something good with friends and family.  Or in some cases eating alone is just fine also.
