How To Get Free Things Online Without Paying
Have you heard the old saying, “Nothing in life is free.” I agree, but I do know that companies give away free full-sized and sample-sized products with hopes that consumers will buy their product after they have sampled them for free.
For consumers that lead a frugal lifestyle, they are not concerned with the marketing aspect of the companies, all they are thinking about is the free product.
I can recall being fresh out of college and trying to figure out how to make a lot of money, save money and have a decent lifestyle. While trying sort things out I discovered ways to get free items from companies. I remember telling my friend about it and the look she gave me was as if she thought I had lost my mind. Like many people she thought there is no way, you could get free stuff from companies.
After graduating from college I gave birth to my daughter. Although I had a career, I had some serious overhead like nursery school, car note, etc. To supplement my income I decided to find places to get free stuff.
How To Get Freebies For Baby:
This was almost 24 years ago when I made this discovery. One day while cutting coupons I read the fine print of some Gerber and Beech-Nut coupons. The fine print on the coupons said, if I saved a certain amount of the UPC symbols and mailed them in, I would receive a Gerber or Beech-Nut check to purchase more baby food. I did exactly what the coupons said and both companies mailed me checks that could only be used for the purchase of their baby food. Using these checks and my coupons the store would owe me money after ringing up all of my food items. I could not believe it. I was getting free baby food! Please keep in mind, to start this off I did have to purchase the food in the beginning. Eventually, I was getting totally free baby stuff.
I also found a way to get free baby formula. One day while at the doctor’s office, the nurse asked me did I want formula samples. I said, “Yes.” She returned with a case of formula. I thought she was going to bring me one or two samples. She let me know the office does give the samples I was thinking of but they have to get rid of them before they expire. For months she would give me cases of formula. This saved me so much money. If you do not know baby formula is expensive. All you have to do is ask your pediatrician if they have formula they would like to get rid of before it expires. They want you to have these free baby product samples.
It was like freebies were landing in my lap. I also received free newborn diaper samples until my daughter was almost eight months. They were not exactly samples. I was getting full sized packages. I knew someone that worked for a diaper company and they began bringing packages of diapers that had the slightest tear or rip. They could be placed on the shelves to sell to consumers. Since they could not be sold she would give them to me.
I still had not quite tapped into getting free stuff at this point because I did not know how to find it.
The internet was not huge when I started looking into getting free stuff so these were the best things I was aware of.
As years passed and the internet was a huge resource. I was able to find some good online freebies. The first site I discovered was Free Stuff Times. This is one of the oldest and trusted freebie websites. This site is updated daily with a list of freebies, ranging from clothing, food, beauty products, movies, coupon codes, sweepstakes, and more. I like that they offer coupons and deals from local businesses also. There is also an active comment section. People will post if a code is not working or any issue they may have or let you know if a deal or freebie is about to expire. I knew this was a legitimate site when I saw people posting pictures of all of the freebies they had received.
Visiting Free Stuff Times became a daily ritual for me. I quickly learned that I had to act fast in the world of online freebies. Companies have a certain amount of free items they are giving away. For example, they may offer a free sample of something to the first 1,000 people. I always tried to make sure to grab the freebie as soon as I saw it posted.
After I realized that I could really get free stuff, I wanted to find more ways to get free things and places to get free stuff. I was hooked!
I did not know exactly where to look. A couple of my friends were aware that I had started getting free things online. One of them told me about Bzz Agent. I registered with them and they began sending me free products to sample and share my opinion through a questionnaire. The first item I received was an electric toothbrush. Bzz Agent is more of a product testing site but the items you will receive are free.

In response, I have received products, samples, and coupons as a token of their appreciation. On the flip side, I have contacted companies when I have been displeased with their product or business. After contacting them I have received products, samples, and coupons from them as well.
Attend Events For Free (Free Event Website):
Getting free things does not always mean getting an actual product.
If you would like to attend free events in your area Goldstar has complimentary/free tickets for plays, concerts, and more.
Also, typing in free events near me or keywords similar to this you can find free events in your area. Sites like eventbrite will have a list of free events in your area. You will be surprised by the type of free events that are offered. For example, movies in the park, music in the park, restaurant grand openings, festivals and more. There is always something going on.
How To Get Free Movie Theater Tickets:
I know the price of movies can be expensive. There are companies out there that offer free movie screenings. Some of these companies also offer an incentive for attending the screening. They will pay people to attend their screenings. They sometimes will provide popcorn and soda. You do not have to worry about spending money at the concessions stand.
Free Movie Screenings Companies:
If you register with them, they will email you when there is a movie screening in your area. If you visit Free Stuff Times, they also have a movie screening tab, providing a list of free movie screenings that may be in your area also.
Sometimes I like staying in and watching a movie at home. I sometimes rent movies from Redbox.
Did you know Redbox offers free movie rentals? All you have to do is sign up with Red Box emails and you will start receiving free movie codes. Sometimes the codes are for a free movie rental, or if you pay to rent one they will give you a free movie code for the second movie rental. Redbox also has Redbox Text Club They will text you with free movie rentals and deals as well. To get on the list, text SIGNUP to 727272. Sometimes they will offer free game rentals as well. You can also Google free Redbox movie code and sometimes you can find them that way.
How To Get Free Food From Grocery Stores and Restaurants:
I have also found that grocery stores like to give away free food! Ralph’s and Kroger offer a Free Friday download. If you are a registered rewards member, you can log on through their website or through their app every Friday, and they have a new product they are giving away for free. After you select it, it is saved to your coupons. Sometimes the free sites listed above will announce a freebie during the middle of the week in addition to the one that is given every Friday. I have noticed that when it is holiday weekend a Freebie is not listed on a Friday before.
Albertson’s and Von’s also offer free food as well. If you register with them for their rewards program and download the app they offer free food as well. Sometimes I just type free in the search bar of the app and my freebies appear. You can also get free food items with your reward points but I just use them to go towards my fuel points. These fuel points offer 10 cents off your gas at Chevron gas stations. Sometimes I have $0.20 – $0.30 off. It comes in handy with these high gas prices. Ralph’s and Kroger offer fuel reward points at Shell gas stations.
Restaurants also give away free meals. Many of them give away free meals for signing up for their newsletter or app. (how to get free stuff on apps)
- Starbuck’s often offers 50% off its coffee products during certain times of any month
- Baskin and Robbins will give you a free scoop of ice cream on your birthday. If you have the app or are on the email list, oftentimes they are doing a buy one get free promotion or some sort of deal.
- Ben & Jerry’s occasionally give away free ice cream, including Mother’s and Father’s Day. Sometimes the above freebie sites will list when they are giving away free ice cream, not on these holidays.
- 7-11 gives away a free Slurpee to every customer on July 11th, which is “7-11”
- Chick-fil-A will give you a free meal if you dress up like a cow on Cow Appreciation Day
- Cinnabon, Chili’s, Teavana and P.F. Chang’s give away free food on certain days. The sites listed above will usually have these days posted as well.

- Applebee’s, Olive Garden, Chili’s and Golden Corral are just some of the restaurants that let active and retired members of the military eat free on Veteran’s Day. Again some of the above sites will have them listed. I know Free Stuff Times definitely will list restaurants that are offering free meals for Veterans on Veterans Day.

- Go to the Amazon website. Type the word free in the search bar. Hit enter. All that Amazon is offering from free will appear.
- Amazon Trade-In: If you have eligible devices you would like to get rid of— Amazon devices, electronics, books, video games, and more — you can send them to Amazon Trade-In for consideration. This could be a good way to make some extra money. Follow these steps: Send your items in for free by using a prepaid UPS shipping label. You’ll get confirmation about the rejection or acceptance of your items within two business days of Amazon receiving them. If it’s a “no,” they won’t send it back, but they’ll properly recycle it for you. If your electronic meets the criteria, you’ll receive payment in the form of an Amazon gift card.
- Register for Amazon Drive and Get Free Cloud Storage: You do not have to be a Prime subscriber to get 5GB worth of photo and video cloud storage on the house. - Receive Free Amazon Stuff in exchange for Reviews: As a product reviewer, you will need to have an Amazon account and a profile page. Depending on which program you join, the procedures may differ a little, but the concept is the same. Here are some examples:
- AMZDiscover: With this tool, you sign up as a reviewer and give AMZDiscover a list of categories you’re interested in. AMZDiscover will then send you possible products to review.
- Cashback Base: You’ll be paid in merchandise for leaving reviews on Amazon products.
- Tomoson.com: Get free Amazon products on here if you’re an influencer or have a significant following on YouTube, Instagram, or other social media platforms. The brands will choose you on Tomoson, and not the other way around. Note that it isn’t getting chosen, but once you are, you’ll be receiving products for free left and right.
Get Free Stuff On Social Media:
Finding free stuff does not end here. You can also find free items through Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. There are Facebook fan pages that only share freebies. Typing in hashtags like #freebies, #free, #freestuff, #deals is a way to find freebies. Many retailers will announce freebies, deals, and giveaways on their social media channels. It is best to follow the retailers you like to see what they are giving away.
Craigslist is a great place to find free stuff also. Craigslist has a free section.
Buy and Sell Freebies On Facebook Marketplace:
I have seen people give away things on Facebook Marketplace also. You can also sell things and make a little money.
Also, if the city or community you live in has a Facebook page or Facebook group, that is a good place to find free things also.
When I began receiving free stuff it seemed like I was receiving something in the mail every day. I created an email just for my free stuff sign up. I did not want to be bombarded with emails coming to my regular email address after I signed up. Not all companies require you to use an email address, sometimes it is a download or just going to the store to pick up the item before they are all gone. For the times I needed to provide an email I was always prepared. I used the email address I created just for freebies. I knew I would start to receive emails about deals, new products or more freebies from these companies.
I do not mind being apart of their database with this email address because there are benefits that come with it. There have been times that I signed up for one free item and months later I receive something I was not expecting. Once your name is in the database you may receive more freebies you are not expecting. That is always a pleasant surprise.
I have received actual products mailed to me or a free product coupon has been mailed to me. Sometimes I do not receive just one free product coupon from one company, I receive several. It is the best when I am checking out at the register and I have a stack of free product coupons and the cashier says, “These are great coupons!” Often times they ask where did I get them from.
I have found that by following free stuff sites or finding your favorite site that you like to follow a lot of free products will start coming in and you will begin to save money. I recall receiving toothpaste samples. At first, I was bothered by the pint-sized samples coming to the mailbox. That was until one day I ran out of toothpaste and went into my sample drawer and had so many sample toothpaste. I decided I would use the samples for a while and after they ran out I would purchase more. If I did purchase any I had a deal on it. It seemed like my household always had samples of something. Either full size or sample size.
I did not experience this only with toothpaste. I have received cereal, candy, beauty products, dog food, and more. I had products I had never used before and was glad to try and I had products from trusted brands that I loved.
In the beginning, I was concerned about free sample scams. Over some time I am able to recognize the scammers. I have not had bad experiences that I can recall.
How to Avoid Free-Sample Scams:
If you are questioning if the promotion is legitimate or not think of these tips to ensure you’re not the victim of a free-sample scam.
- Focus on the products that you want.
- Make sure your computer is protected. I warning will appear if you click on a bad link.
- Free-trial requirements are not part of a free sample.
- Look for websites that point you to the actual company offering the free sample.
- Remember that surveys are not your job.
- Free samples never require more than your basic information, such as name and address. They will sometimes as for your email. If a site asks for credit card information or social security numbers, click out of it immediately.
- Like your favorite companies on social media. They might promote samples directly through Facebook or Twitter in exchange for you “sharing” the offer or product with your followers.
If you start to visit these sites or do any of the things I have suggested you will start to receive lots of free samples.
Just as the old saying goes, “Nothing in life is free.” Yes, you are receiving free items but it does cost you some time. Aside from it costing you time, this is one of the best marketing strategies for companies to market to consumers. More than likely you are going to like the product and purchase it. As a frugal shopper, you may purchase it with a coupon or when there is a great sale or deal you will purchase the product, dine at the restaurant, etc. You may even tell a friend about how amazing the product is and they will go out and purchase it. Either way, it is a win-win for everyone. You are getting free stuff and the companies are getting the word out there about their new products. It is all marketing.
Frugal shoppers are able to benefit from getting free stuff. Although it takes some time out of your day, you are able to save an incredible amount of money.
How To Win Sweepstakes Online
Believe it or not, you can get free things by entering sweepstakes. Trust me, I have won many things by entering no purchase necessary sweepstakes.
Enjoy your free stuff!
