Big Hero 6 Review – Film For The Entire Family
My family attended the screening for Big Hero 6 and loved the movie. It is been two weeks since we saw the film, but it has been interesting to see friends and family on facebook talking about the movie over the past week. It seems to be a concensus, Big Hero 6 is a hit!
Thanks to Disney and my 9 year old son, I am now a fan of superhero films.
As we sat in El Capitan theater we were taken on an adventure in the futuristic city, Sanfarnsokyo with Hiro and his plus size, inflatable robot Baymax. .
Hiro is a 14 year old genius that has graduated from high school early. His days are spent creating robots and fighting them illegally in alleys. Meanwhile his big brother Tadashi, is busy studying robotics in college. He convinces Hiro to take takes things more serious and join Tadashi’s friends, creating super cool robots, including “micro-bots.” There are a change in events and Hiro is devastated. His brother’s friends try to cheer him up, but they are unsuccessful. Surprisingly, Hiro finds Tadashi’s soft and pillow like robot creation Baymax. When Hiro’s micro-bots are stolen, he and Baymax a assemble a group to form a superhero team to get them back.
Initially I was taken aback, by the mention of death in a children’s film. The little girl seated behind me asked her dad several times, what happened. I could not hear a response, but I am sure her dad had some explaining to do. I guess topics of death are being exposed at an earlier age. I come from a generation were it was not mentioned in children’s books or films. Yes, there was a moment of sadness in this film, but there was lots of laughter, warmth and action also. The film indirectly lets the audience know what happens.
We fell in love with Baymax. I wanted to squish him, so badly. He is so lovable and funny. All he wants to do is help people and that is exactly what he does.
I had been waiting for the inflatable scene. The movie trailers are not misleading. That scene is funny as well as many other scenes.
Not only did my family enjoy Big Hero 6, but from what I can tell on facebook, many other families are enjoying the film as well.
