So, I did some research.”

This curiosity soon evolved into something more significant. “About a year later, I had this voice inside nudging at me to make a documentary. I kept trying to ignore it because I know nothing about making films. But the voice kept getting louder and louder,” Brian recalls. Despite his initial hesitation, he turned to Kelly for help. “She agreed, and so we, along with the very generous Bitcoin community, created God Bless Bitcoin.”

Balancing his roles as a CIO and an educator with this new project was challenging, but Brian couldn’t ignore the call to make the film. “Like many people, I work too many hours trying to balance work, family, and projects. However, I couldn’t ignore the voice to make the film, so my wife and I decided to burn the midnight oil and get it done.”

The Educational Impact of Bitcoin

Kelly, a seasoned educator, sees the educational aspects of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as crucial for future generations. “One of the biggest failures of our educational system, both public and private, is its lack of classes that teach financial literacy,” she states. “That is why it was important to me to create an educational film that explains how our current financial system works.”

Kelly believes that Bitcoin offers a unique opportunity for wage earners to create a store of value that can help them secure a more abundant future. “People only see that they are working two or sometimes three jobs and still can’t keep up with their bills. They blame themselves when really it is our current financial system’s fault. I believe Bitcoin specifically allows everyone, but particularly the wage earner, to create a store of value that can help them to provide a more abundant future for themselves and their families.”

Through God Bless Bitcoin, Kelly hopes to provide young people with a first look at Bitcoin that is both informative and inspiring. “It is my hope that in creating this film, we will have provided an easily-digestible first look at Bitcoin and how it works so that young people can see that there is hope for them.”

Overcoming Challenges in Filmmaking

Creating God Bless Bitcoin was no small feat, but surprisingly, the challenges weren’t in production or financing. “The Bitcoin community volunteered their time and talents to help us put this together,” Brian notes. “The most difficult part was figuring out how to make a film that both a Bitcoin expert and a newbie would enjoy.”

This balancing act was where Kelly’s strengths as a writing teacher came into play. “Brian has devoted the last ten years of his life to studying Bitcoin, so he had too much information he wanted to share, or the information was deep-level and hard for a newbie to understand,” Kelly explains. “Luckily, my strengths as a writing teacher helped him to narrow his focus and direct his message.”

As producers and financiers of the film, Brian and Kelly have a clear vision for what they hope audiences will take away from God Bless Bitcoin. “Our goal was to pique people’s interest and show them the hope that Bitcoin offers,” they say. “We believe that knowledge is power, so our film gives a general explanation of Bitcoin and how it works. But ultimately, the film is a springboard for people to learn more about how Bitcoin can help them live a life of abundance.”
