Santa’s Speedway Holiday Drive Through Light Show
Christmas Events Los Angeles
My family cannot get enough of Christmas light drive-thru events. This past weekend, we attended The Irwindale Speedway and Event Center opening. This Santa’s Speedway holiday drive through light show is bringing holiday cheer to families throughout Southern California with the debut of its new Santa’s Speedway Christmas Lights Drive-Thru Spectacular This is an all-ages immersive drive-thru holiday lights experience that was built in partnership with Mobile Illuminations, the masterminds behind the Grove, Universal Studios, and Warner Brothers’ Christmas Extravaganzas.
Designed to make Christmas this year a little bit brighter, the experience which will run nightly from November 25, 2020-January 10, 2021 will transport families into a Christmas wonderland as they drive along an actual NASCAR track and come face to face with Santa’s Village, and a series of jaw-dropping Christmas vignettes and lighting displays, including the world’s largest free-standing Christmas tree.
My family was looking forward to attending this event because we had never been to a NASCAR track. I was excited to actually drive on the track.
As we approached the speedway entrance we were greeted by a display of flickering lights. As we drove through the lights, I kept saying we were on the speedway. My son insisted that we were not. In my mind, everything had begun when I saw the lights in the parking lot. It was not until we entered an amazingly beautifully decorated tunnel, that I realized we were approaching the speedway. Santa’s Speedway displayed lights from the entrance to the exit, giving a spectacular light show from the moment we arrived until the moment we left.
During this event, we made sure we kept our windows up as much as possible. We also kept our masks on. And we never got out of our SUV. We were trying to make sure we were safe.
The experience took about 30 – 45 minutes to drive through. As we enjoyed the holiday lights, we tried to sing along with the Christmas songs. We listened to music that was provided by Santa’s Speedway. When we entered the speedway we were instructed to turn our car stereo to the station the speedway was playing their music on. This was perfect for my family because we love Christmas songs. We blasted our stereo, although it was synched with the outdoor music. This made the experience even more festive. The only thing we were missing was some snow and some hot chocolate. We were having a blast.
Holiday drive-thru experiences are one of the things that are getting us into the holiday spirit.
