When the stay-at-home orders were set in place, I sat on Zoom calls with friends and family discussing how we were going to do our nails.    

When it comes to polishing my nails, I am horrible.  I have used a home gel kit and my nails look decent.  I have now been introduced to the Gel Bae Poly Gel Nails.

Before I applied the nails, I clicked on the video link on their website and it did not work.  I then went to Instagram and YouTube and found videos.  In all of the videos I watched, everyone’s nails looked so nice.   Instructions came with the kit, but I needed to see how it supposed to be done.  

After watching the videos and looking at images of other people’s nails, I was convinced my nails were going to look amazing!   I was completely wrong. 

• The first problem was, it took me about an hour to do one nail.  
• I was not applying the right amount of poly gel.   When I put the small amount it did not seem like enough.
• The nails were too thin because I could not figure out how to apply the poly gel.
• The poly gel was sticking to my finger. 
• Rubbing alcohol was not included as stated.  When I inquired, I was told it could not be shipped. 

I never figured it out.  Later that day, I called my daughter and told her about Gel Bae.  I offered to give it to her because she has wanted a gel kit, so she can do her nails during the quarantine. 

Of course, she did her nails and they looked nice.   Everything I had trouble with, she did not.   Her nails were nice and thick.   After one day or two days of wearing them, they began to pop off.   She reapplied them two or three times.   The last time, they began to pop off, she decided she was not going to do them again.  Her actual nails were beginning to thin out and hurt. 

Gel Bae says the Gel Bae Poly Gel material is non-toxic and safer to use than the typical acrylic you might find in a salon. The nails are also a non-leveling product that does not require you to file down your nails, avoiding potential unnecessary damage. Gel Bae Poly Gel Nails will typically give you two to three weeks of exceptional nails before having to be replaced.   This was not the case for me and my daughter. 

We both have had two different experiences with Gel Bae.   We were very excited to try this new nail kit.  It is disappointing that it did not work for either of us.
