Target Curbside Pickup Saves Money, Time, And Keeps You Safe
Two months into quarantine, I discovered Target’s Drive Up. I was so excited about it because I have not been comfortable going into stores, but I wanted to get out of the house. Like many of us, I am excited to go to the gas station, pick up groceries, and take a walk.
Af first, I thought there would be a fee for this service, because I had been used to paying a small fee for curbside, through InstaCart. I was happy to learn there was not a fee.
The order and pickup process has been very easy.
How to use Target Drive Up
- Shop the Target app. – If you do not have the Target app, you will have to download the app. After you have the app, began shopping. After you have added everything to your cart and select drive up and checkout. You will receive an email confirmation immediately after placing your order.
- Wait for notification – Target will let you know when your order is ready for pickup. You will receive an alert from the app and email notification when your order is ready for pickup. Just in case you do not receive a notification from the app, I suggest checking your email or the app. The app shows the progress of your order.
- Drive up – When you arrive at your Target store, park in the designated parking spot and let them know are at the store, so they can load your car. You will let them know through the app. When you click on the app, follow the prompts. The Target employee will come out with your items and place them in your vehicle. I typically have my trunk open and they place the products in there for me. There is absolutely no contact.
Pros when using Target Drive Up

- It is safe. It allows you to practice social distancing.
- You can save money. You can apply your Target Circle Rewards to your order. You can also receive 5% savings when you use your Redcard debit or credit card.
- They are now charging $1.00 bags (up to 10 bags) you can decline the bags and not be charged. The dollar will be deducted after you pick up your order and decline them when the items are brought to your car.
Cons when using Target Drive Up
Eligible Drive up items – Most items are eligible and will be noted as an option on the product detail page, in your cart, and at checkout. Unfortunately, they cannot offer Drive Up for perishable food, flowers, adult beverages, and other select items at this time. I have found that many of the essential cleaning supplies are not available for pick up.
I have not had a bad experience when picking up my products. I have ordered one item or several bags of products, and Target has gotten my order right every time.
If you are like me and are trying to practice social distancing while shopping, Target Drive Up is a great alternative.
