How To Get Essential Quarantine Items During Stay At Home Orders
We are in week four of California’s stay-at-home orders, and I have been overwhelmed by the love that people are spreading to one another. We have all come together to find creative ways to get our essentials while dealing with COVID 19, instead of worrying about how to get essential quarantine items during the stay at home orders.
Here are some things we have done.
A friend of mine told me she was able to get groceries through Postmates. They did forget one item but they credited her account. Aside from her groceries, she paid $9.99 for delivery and included a tip. She was unaware that Postmates does offer discount codes online. You will have to search for them. Either way, $9.99 and a tip is great! This is one of the best ways to get home essentials online.
We have all been trying to share what we have. It typically means getting something that we know someone needs and leaving it on their doorstep or meeting up outside and tossing things to each other, while standing six feet apart.
Today, I received a package of quarantine face masks that I ordered from my friend Sonia, who owns a clothing line Mixed Up Clothing. I ordered masks from her because she has been making masks for hospitals. Purchasing a mask from her would allow her to donate and make additional masks. When I opened my package, I was surprised. She had included two additional masks. Of course, I have already gifted them.
Yesterday, I received a care package from a dear friend that is like a sister. When she heard that stay at home orders were in place and there were a few items that I was running out of or could not find, she insisted on sending me a package. She lives in Texas and said things were easier for her to get. I was so surprised and thankful. She sent me, Celestial Tea, raw honey, gloves, hand sanitizer, towel paper, Wet Wipes, Wellness Herbal Resistance Liquid, EmergenC, and some aroma bath salt. She wanted to mail rubbing alcohol because I cannot find it anywhere. The post office would not allow her to do so.
It was okay that my friend was unable to send the rubbing alcohol. Last Saturday, I received a text from my cousins saying they had gotten rubbing alcohol, Clorox, and disposable gloves for me. I had spoken to them a few nights before and we were talking about things we could not find. I went out looking for paper towels for them. I had no idea they were looking for these items for me.
The surprises did not end there. After my cousins dropped off the essentials they had gotten me, my friend Jan called me saying she had purchased additional masks for my family. The night before we had been discussing how we would need a few masks because they need to be washed and we did not want to wear the same one repeatedly without washing them. Now I have three masks to wear and counting.
We have been diligently staying home and supporting one another. I have also seen people sharing in the FaceBook group for my city. People have either asked does anyone need anything or people have asked if someone has something they need. People have asked for essential items and they have asked for kind words and prayer. Some of these people are complete strangers. We have all come together to support and love one another during these difficult times.
