WE TV New Shows

When I received my invitation to WETV’s Growing Up Hip Hop premiere and after party I asked my daughter to join me.   I thought it would be fitting for us to attend this event together, considering I am around the same age of the parents and she is around the same age as the younger cast members.

This is exclusive event was held at the London Hotel in Los Angeles.

Neither of us had ever watched the show but were familiar with the cast.

The show’s stars, Angela Simmons (daughter of Rev Run), Romeo Miller(son of Master P), Damon “Boogie”Dash(son of Damon Dash), Kristinia Debarge(daughter of James Debarge), Egypt Criss(daughter of Pepa from Salt-N-Pepa and Treach from Naughty by Nature), Tahira “Tee Tee” Francis (Niece of Pepa)and Briana Latrise(daughter of Kendu Isaacs), were all in attendance. A few celebrity parents were also in attendance, including Damon Dash, Master P, and Pepa.

The evening began with opening remarks from Marc Juris, WEtv President. Cast members Angela Simmons and Romeo Miller welcomed guests and introduced the first episode of the new season.

As we watched the first episode, it was interesting to see things unfold on screen as the cast members watched it all together in this intimate theater.  There was plenty of drama and some comedy.  The comedy was brought on by Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Simmons.   I just love how is so naturally funny.

Aside from the drama and comedy, there were times my heart broke for some of the cast.  They deal with real life issues that many people can relate to.

I left the theater wondering what will happen in the next episode.

Following the screening, the cast and guests enjoyed an after party on the rooftop, with music by DJ Kiss, cocktails and small bites.
