Does The Room Exist? – Good Reading Books For Adults
Best Reading Books For Adults
While reading Jonas Karlsson’s The Room I questioned if The Room existed. Was it real or not? As I anxiously turned each page I questioned the sanity of the characters in this book, especially the main character Bjorn.
This thought provoking book is a page turner that is well written and is by far an easy read.
Bjorn is a compulsive, meticulous individual who discovers a secret room at the government office where he works. This is a secret room that no one else in his office acknowledges. When Bjorn goes into the room his co-workers see is him standing by the wall and staring in a zone. After a while, his weird behavior eventually leads his co-workers to try and have him fired.
Bjorn’s behavior was a bit frustrating and irritating. I am not sure if I liked him, but I kept coming back wanting more. I questioned, Was he suffering from a mental illness? Did the room really exist? Were the coworkers being mean to him? Was he being cocky? Was he the underdog? Should I be rooting for him?
I did not know what to think and I think Jonas Karlsson did an excellent job in this brilliant debut.
By reached the time I reached the end of the book I was definitely wanting more. It did not matter if I liked Bjorn or not. I was transfixed on the daily bizarre activities and thoughts he possessed and the response he was receiving from his peers.
This definitely a must read!
