Free And For Me

It has been years since I have had tamales.  A couple of weeks ago, I received samples of Cedar Lane’s new all natural gluten-free line of frozen tamales.  that came in a different variety than I would have normally tried.   I will normally eat chicken tamales.

My family and I sampled:
·        Chile and  Cheese Tamales
·        Roasted Vegetable Tamales
·        Spinach and Feta Cheese Tamales
·        Sweet Corn Tamales

They are hand wrapped in delicate corn husks. They are easy and convenient.  I was able prepare them in minutes.  I placed them in my favorite steam pot for 20-25 minutes and let them sit for one minute and we ready to eat.  We did not eat them with salsa or anything.  They were delicious!

My daughter, who does not like corn tamales, really liked the sweet corn tamales and the chile and cheese tamales (the ingredients included sweet corn).  She loves sweet corn.  My son and I tried them as well, but considering we were going to to try the roasted vegetable tamales, my daughter did not want us to eat too much.  My son and I ate the roasted vegetable tamales, they were good as well.  As for the spinach and feta cheese tamales a friend of mine came to visit and I gave them to her, she said they would be perfect to eat at work for lunch.  I have not spoken with her to see how she likes them.  I am sure she did.  She has not called to say, she did not like them.

After visiting the Cedar Lane site I was impressed with this video.  I am sure you will be also.  Just watch!!!  I also liked that they were right here in Southern California.  Not that it means anything, but I get excited when a product I like is local.

My tamales were mailed to me.  I often receive food through the mail and this is the first time I felt absolutely confident about the freshness and packaging process.   I am sure the other companies are sending fresh food, but I was even more impressed with Cedar Lane after watching this video.

Now head over to your local freezer aisle and purchase a box or two of Cedar Lane Tamales.  Trust me, you will like them.
