How To Cook a Turkey In The Oven To Be Moist
How Long To Bake A Turkey
Jennie-O Oven Ready Whole Turkey made preparing Thanksgiving easier! It is a family tradition to stay up the night before Thanksgiving and cook. Now that I have a family, I cook with my son and spend the evening with my mom and I calling each other back and forth discussing what we are preparing. This year was interesting because I gave her a Jennie-O Oven Ready Whole Turkey to prepare because everyone goes to my parent’s house for Thanksgiving. I was at home preparing Jennie-O Oven Ready Turkey Breast for my family because we like to have Thanksgiving dinner prepared at home as well. Thanksgiving leftovers are the best. When I told my mother about this turkey, she immediately went online to see what I was talking about. It was so foreign to her. It seemed she was trying to understand not having to do very much. She read and re-read the instructions. It could not be this simple, she kept saying. When she picked up the turkey she was pleasantly surprised by the 12-pound turkey.
The true test was when she was going to cook it. The day she followed the simple directions.
Step 1: Remove the outer wrapping.
Step 2: Place the frozen turkey in a pan in the oven.
Step 3: Roast, cut, and serve.
She thought there would be a dilemma because the turkey parts that are usually inside were not there, what was she going to do about her homemade gravy? Surprise, surprise…Jennie-O had provided a gravy packet inside. That solved everything.
While the turkey was cooking, my mother was concerned about the turkey falling apart, because whenever you cook the turkey in a bag you have to be careful. It will get nice and juice and will fall apart. When it was close to the time to take it out of the oven, she removed it from the bag and let it brown some more in the oven, so it would not fall apart while she placed it on the platter.
Everyone was pleased. My father was convinced my mom seasoned it and everything. He is not a cook, so it was hard to convince him that she did not do all of the work he thought.
Preparing this turkey spent fewer hours preparing this turkey. She was impressed and is now hooked. She plans on preparing this again.
My mom prepares turkey for Christmas as well. I am suspecting I know brand turkey she will be purchasing.
