Shrek The Musical Surprise Celebration at Sweet- Baldwin Hills Elementary School awarded $10,000 Check
On Thursday, November 14, 2013, I attended a surprise check ceremony for the students of Baldwin Hills Elementary School from the National Association for Music Education and Shrek The Musical on Blu-ray and DVD release at Sweet, Hollywood, the world’s largest candy emporium.
I stood with excitement for this class of students. They thought they were visiting Sweet for a fun day at the candy store. To commemorate the occasion, Sweet was transformed into Shrek’s beloved swamp where students and staff enjoyed a scavenger hunt, custom green goodies, and more! For a moment the highlight for the class was seeing Shrek.
The teacher and students did not know that DreamWorks Animation and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment in partnership with National Association for Music Education (NAfME) donated five $10,000 grants to help save music and arts programs in schools across the country and they were selected as one of the five schools.
When presented with the check the looks on their faces were priceless. I enjoy moments like this. These children are the same age as my son and I know how important visiting a candy store can be and now learning the importance of money, I am suspecting they truly appreciate receiving such an amazing gift. Congratulations Baldwin Hills Elementary School!!!
One last thing, do not forget get to pick up your copy of Shrek The Musical on Blu-ray and DVD.
Disclosure: products/compensation was received in exchange for post. All opinions are my own.
