Hof’s Hut Restaurant Review
Dining at Hof’s Hut took me back in time. When we sat down in our booth, my son asked, “Is this old school?” He was exactly right!!! Hof’s Hut offers what some might call, an old school dining experience. I have often asked myself what happened to good customer service. Hof’s Hut seems to have maintained great customer service, the kind I witnessed as a child while dining out with my parents.
Feeling the warmth of the staff and prepared to eat. Well… at least we “thought” we came prepared to eat. We were not prepared the generous portions. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomach’s. For starters we had potato skins. We ordered a full size, because we have order potato skins at other restaurants and they are usually small. When our server brought them to the table we were surprised. These skins were so delicious and filling.
For some reason it did not register that every portion would be so generous. I ordered the sea food platter, Ari ordered Shrimp Scampi and the little guy ordered kids, chicken strips. In order to say we tried a little of everything, we managed to taste one another’s meal.
While thinking our meal was complete. Our waitress suggested we try the dessert. You cannot dine at Hof’s Hut without having dessert. Oh my goodness!!! I ordered pecan pie and Ari ordered pumpkin pie. We thought we were ordering a slice of pie. When a mini pie for each of us were brought to the table we told the waitress it was a mistake. She said no, they do not do slices only mini pies. So we just had to dig in and take the remainder home. Thoughts of my workout immediately popped into my head. Did I mention my pie was a la mode and Ari’s and Hof’s Hut homemade whipped cream. I would be remised to mention their pies are baked, fresh daily. And boy are the sooooo delicious, worth every extra calorie.
Another thing that took me back in time was the cheese, garlic bread. Just yesterday, I told my mother about the cheese, garlic bread I had. We have not had bread like that in about 20 years. I let her know I have found a place that has it. I can remember my family dining out every Friday and I would always want cheese, garlic bread Yum….I made the mistake of asking my son to taste it. He devoured it. Well, I guess when I have a craving for cheese, garlic bread and I am in the Torrance area I know where to go.
I cannot tell you how many times I have said, “When I was a child….” to my children and wish I could take them back in time with me. I felt like our dining experience at Hof’s Hut allowed me to do that in a small way.
We had a nice dining experience at Hof’s Hut. Good food and customer service definitely equals a nice dining experience.
