The wait is over! Ghostbusters will be in theaters tomorrow, July 15th.
My family saw it last night. Within minutes of the movie, the theater was filled with laughter.
The new all female Ghostbusters cast: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon kept us in stitches.
The theater was packed with people of all ages laughing in harmony. I would like to say this is a family friendly film but, as I sat through the flipping the bird scene that seemed to last forever, I cringed as children laughed along with the adults. My son was apart of this as well.
Some of the best parts where seeing a glimpse of the old cast. If you blinked you might miss them. For those of you that do not know the original cast members you will be missing out on a treat. There was applause in the audience when people noticed them and some people sat wondering what was going on.
There were a couple of stereotypes that stood out and where a bit extreme. Leslie Jones plays Patty Tolan. A loud mouth black women with attitude. She is somewhat masculine and abuses the English language with words like, caint, bafroom and yall. She constantly said dude and used the word homie. I find her to be very funny but, not a great representation for black women in this film. I say this because the film did not depict any of the other women in such a stereotypical manner. On the other hand Chris Hemsworth was hilarious as the hot receptionist He gives the term, “dumb blonde” a new definition. Being attractive was not a hard task for him and they definitely played off that. He just can’t seem to do anything right. Like Leslie Jones his character was a bit extreme as well.
Aside from those few things I really liked the movie and would recommend it. Don’t forget it will be in theaters July 15th.
