Free And For Me

Giving you the latest and hottest in entertainment, travel, food and much more!!!

I was taught that it is not polite to correct people.  I am not sure if I like this rule of etiquette.  I am fed up with the way people abuse the English language.

It has become a game for me and my friend Cameron.  We are not making fun of people, but we will call one another and share the words or phrases we have heard.

Here are few that drive us nuts!!!  Please forgive me if I misspell these misused words.

  • irregardless  (regardless)
  • conversate (converse)
  • aggreance  (agreement)
  • unappropriate (inappropriate)
  • Where are you going to be at?  (Where are you going to be?)
  • could of (could have)
  • supposibly (supposedly)
My list is a little longer, but I think you get the picture.  I have been wondering, why is it so wrong to inform someone they are saying something incorrectly?  It is funny, because when I hear people using words or phrases like these, they are saying it with such confidence.  I do not know how they will receive my correction, but it absolutely makes me cringe.  While I am cringing I am thinking I want to correct them so badly, but I wonder if they will get upset.  So, I just allow the conversation to move on. They are happy and I am thinking, “Did he/she just say that?”
Since I am following the polite rule of etiquette, I am keeping quiet and just sharing my thoughts here.

Happy Friday!!!
