I am not the girl that has been into super hero’s, so it is hard for me to believe that I loved Guardians of the Galaxy. When my family was invited to the screening I was only going because I knew my son and daughter would like it. Guess who is now a Marvel fan?
This movie drew me in as soon as the lights dimmed in the theater and the film began to roll. Within the first five minutes I was tearing up, laughing and groovin in my seat. You have to see Chris Pratt’s moves.
Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters August 1, 2014 and I have told several people how great this movie is. My family left the theater talking about our favorite moments and favorite characters. It has been almost a week and a half since we saw the film and my son is still quoting lines from the movie or asking, “Do you remember this part?”
From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
If any of you are like me and think you have to be familiar with the characters, you do not. The story line is so good, you will not be concerned with that. After the movie I wanted to find out who Peter Quill father is and I absolutely fell in love with Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper). I loved his sarcasm and witty since of humor. Zoe Saldana never disappoints with her acting abilities and of course she looked amazing portraying the character, Gamora. My daughter is obsessed with her sass, strength and spice, she plans on being her for Halloween. Now Vin Diesel as Groot was a definitely a memorable character. He had the least amount of lines, but he definitely had a lot to say. What is the old saying, “Actions speak louder than words.”
Vin Diesel dubbed his lines from the film in Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese, French and Russian. The dubbing, intended to uniquely customize the movie going experience for international audiences, took place recently in Los Angeles during post-production in collaboration with key marketing teams around the globe.
Guardians of the Galaxy is a great summer film for the entire family. It appeals to all age groups, male, female young and old. The sound track is incredible. You will see when your watching Chris Pratt bust a move on the big screen. Watching him dance to the music made it all the more enjoyable.
