So far this summer has been hot and getting hotter. We have had triple digits and some humidity. My son swims everyday and when he swims at home he wears his Nammu hat.
The Nammu hat protects his head from the sun. He laughs when I ask “Is it hot on your head?” He thinks I do not get it. I think it is quit fashionable. He wears it without hesitation at home. I do not allow him to take it to summer camp only because he has to keep up with all of his other swim gear.
Nammu protects his head from the sun’s harmful UV rays it was designed to cover the ears for extra sun protection and it has a triangle flap in the back to increase the “cool” factor while protecting the delicate skin on the back of the neck from sunburn. He usually burns on his shoulders and I apply a lot of sunscreen on his neck, so I cannot say if it has protected his neck, so I guess is has double protection.
Nammu is made of 80% nylon and 20% spandex, flexible and durable fabric. It dries quickly and easy to wash. Nammu is made out of bathing suits fabric, which allow water to go through . However; Nammu swimming cap will protect your hair form the sun, and dirt in the water. Also Nammu swim cap will prevent hair form clog the drain in swimming pool. Adult sizes are available as well.
My son has not had any issues with his head during the summer but I am glad he has Nammu just in case.
